A professional artificial plant wall is created through careful installation as much as product selection. Uneven layouts, unsecured edges and visible seams can reduce the quality of even a well-made panel. A clear installation plan helps contractors control alignment, protect materials and deliver a consistent surface.
This checklist is intended for project planning. The responsible installer must select fixings and construction details that suit the actual substrate, loads, environment and local regulations.
Review the site before materials arrive
Measure the wall at several points and record corners, openings, signs, lights, outlets, access panels and mechanical equipment. Confirm that the base is stable, dry and ready to receive the selected fixing system. Resolve waterproofing, fire and electrical details before covering the surface.
Outdoor projects require additional review of wind exposure, drainage, temperature and access. The installer should confirm that the wall and fixings can support the system under local conditions.
Prepare a panel layout
Create a layout showing full panels, cut panels, corners and transitions. Establish a level reference line rather than following an uneven floor or ceiling. Place small cut pieces away from the most visible areas when possible.
For mixed foliage designs, arrange panels on the floor first and review the composition from a distance. Rotate compatible panels to reduce repeated patterns, while keeping foliage direction consistent with the approved design.
Choose fixings for the substrate
Concrete, masonry, metal framing, timber and temporary display structures require different fixings. Cable ties, screws, anchors, mesh frames or other supports may be used depending on the system, but the final choice belongs to the responsible installer.
Fixing spacing should keep the backing flat and prevent loose edges. Exterior installations may require closer spacing and additional perimeter security.
Install panels in a controlled sequence
Begin from the reference point shown on the layout. Check level and alignment after each row rather than waiting until the wall is complete. Connect adjoining panels securely and make cuts with tools suited to the backing.
Keep foliage away from the cutting area to avoid damage. After each panel is secured, arrange leaves across the joint so the seam becomes visually continuous.
Detail corners, openings and edges
External corners can be wrapped or finished with a compatible trim. Internal corners should maintain sufficient foliage coverage without creating excessive bulk. Around signs, doors and lights, cut the backing accurately and secure every new edge.
Maintain access to service panels, drains, ventilation, sprinklers and safety equipment. Do not use foliage to conceal components that require inspection.
Complete the final visual adjustment
Transport may compress foliage. Gently lift and arrange leaves after installation, working across the wall in a consistent direction. Review the result from close range, normal viewing distance and the main approach routes.
Compare the completed wall with the approved sample or mockup. Correct visible gaps, repeated patterns or damaged pieces before removing access equipment.
Final inspection checklist
- All panels, cuts and perimeter edges are secure.
- Seams are covered and panel alignment is consistent.
- Corners and openings match the approved detail.
- Lights, signs, sprinklers and service access remain clear.
- Foliage is evenly arranged with no visible packing damage.
- Offcuts, ties and installation debris have been removed.
- Concealed fixings and completed areas have been photographed for records.
Plan inspection and maintenance access
Artificial greenery requires less routine care than living planting, but it is not maintenance-free. Interior walls may need periodic dust removal. Exterior walls should be checked after severe weather and cleaned according to the material guidance.
Xinrui Sheng New Material can support panel selection, packing and project coordination. Share drawings, dimensions, substrate information and site photographs before ordering so product and installation planning can begin together.
For project-specific product options, send XRS the wall size, application, destination and performance requirements. Final structural and fixing decisions should always be made by qualified project professionals.
